The Northern Agricultural Catchments Council (WA) says its series of seminars on climate change in coastal areas have been overwhelmingly popular with the Geraldton community.
The seminars explore how climate change will affect future development in coastal communities. The third seminar will be in May.
The council’s Ashley Robb says the information sessions are greatly improving community awareness. “Increasing the awareness of how complex some of these issues are, the solutions are not simple, they can be really complex when you’ve got so many different values to consider in the coastal environment,” he said.
“The community or the people who are attending these are really starting to understand the complexity and how coastal managers are trying to deal with some of these issues.”
